Food and Drink Service NVQ
What is the purpose of this qualification?
The Food and Drink Service NVQ Level 2 offered by EDI and City & Guilds has been developed from the National Occupational Standards produced by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries.
This NVQ is designed for people who:

are involved in Food and Drink Service, as their primary work activity

are seeking a career in Food and Drink Service and wish to take the first steps towards professional qualifications

Wish to receive recognition for their Food and Drink Service experience
To achieve the NVQ, you must complete 8 units in total
Mandatory Units
Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
Contribute to effective teamwork
Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
Optional units
Prepare and clear areas for table service
Serve food at the table
Maintain and deal with payments
Maintain food safety when storing, holding and serving food
Serve alcoholic and soft drinks
Duration
There are no fixed periods for completing an NVQ however most participants take between 6 months to 8 months.
Assessment of your NVQ
Assessment of all NVQs is through submission of a portfolio of evidence and professional discussion, to demonstrate that the requirements are met at the relevant standard
Entry Requirements
There are no formal educational requirements however candidates should be employed in a relevant job role.
