What is the purpose of this course?
The aim of this course is to enable individuals to gain recognition for their existing hospitality skills and to create opportunities for self-development. The course covers a broad spectrum of occupational areas within the hospitality and catering industry and is suitable for multi-skilled employees who work in this sector.
What is the structure of this qualification?
To achieve a full certificate in Housekeeping, you are required to complete the following mandatory units plus optional units.
Mandatory Units
ALL candidates must complete the following units:
Maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food
Contribute to effective teamwork
Optional Units
Provide a counter/takeaway service
Prepare vegetables for basic dishes
Prepare, cook and finish basic rice dishes
Prepare, cook and finish basic pulse dishes
Cook and finish basic vegetable dishes
Complete kitchen documentation
Prepare and finish simple salad and fruit dishes
Duration
There are no fixed periods for completing an NVQ however most participants take between 6 months to 8 months.
Assessment of your NVQ
Assessment of all NVQs is through submission of a portfolio of evidence and professional discussion, to demonstrate that the requirements are met at the relevant standard
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are necessary though you will need to demonstrate that you have the necessary enthusiasm and commitment to successfully complete the course and you must already be working in the hospitality sector.
