English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)


Aim of ESOL course
If English is not your main language & your English skills are below ESOL Entry 3 level , you must take and pass a course in English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) which contains citizenship materials to apply for settlement (indefinite leave to remain) in the UK or British citizenship.

Is English your second language? Our ESOL course will enable you to improve your confidence in English language skills needed for UKBA requirements and daily life.

Listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar
Language Laboratory
Workshop
Tutorial support
Attendance
As the definition of full time and part time can vary from course to course, please check with the tutor as to the exact number of hours study each week this course will entail.
Assessment / Examination Details
Students will be suitably prepared to take the ESOL skills for life certificate. The appropriate level will be decided with the teacher and this may differ with each skill: writing may be taken at a lower level than speaking or vice versa. A certificate will be issued to students on a satisfactory pass rate of the test and college attendance certificate will also be issued. Students can re-enrol at the end of the 10 week block for the next course.
Progression
The course is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to find a job and to communicate with English speakers. An ESOL qualification is a valuable enhancement to your career opportunities. Successful completion of this course enables you to proceed to higher levels within the ESOL Skills for Life certificate.
